Do you blog? What is the purpose of you blogging?
In today’s society, you hear the word blog everywhere. It is used in social settings and professional settings. Blogging seems to be a thing of the present and the future. Is blogging here to stay? Alyssa Gregory summed this up in will blogging be another fad.
Yes it’s true that many people can reach out to a blog. They can read it for their own enjoyment, learn something new from it or elaborate on a blog by posting their own comments to it.
But how effective is a blog? In order to maintain a steady clientele, one must be a frequent user. As Darren Rowse says "Use it or Lose it". One must be willing to dedicate the time to regularly post to their blog. I know that I would struggle in this aspect. Where some people are born writers, I struggle to get my thoughts on paper, especially thoughts and ideas that can be read (and criticized) by all. My efforts would take 10x that of a “true blogger”.
Reason to Blogging
As mentioned earlier, some people blog for the pure enjoyment of it. And more power to them that they have the time to do this. Others blog for business purposes. Blogging can help spread the word of products or services that one is trying to offer. It has always been said that the best way for information to travel is through the word of mouth. Blogging acts as the mouth to spread the information that you are trying to reach to others.
Benefits of Blogging
The benefits of blogging can convince anyone that this is the way to go:
1. Cheap and economical
2. Reaches a large number of viewers in a short amount of time
3. Allows for comments and/or questions
4. Attracts people of various interests
So what are your thoughts about blogging? Let me know as I am not totally convinced that blogging is all that it is hyped up to be.
Michelle, I'm with you..the jury is still out on the hype about blogging. Since it is an 'assignment' it is a bit (more than a bit) stressful..but I think if I was doing it for 'fun' it would be a different story!
